"Set your sights high, the higher the better. Expect the most wonderful things to happen, not in the future but right now. Realize that nothing is too good. Allow absolutely nothing to hamper you or hold you up in any way." —Eileen Caddy
As human beings we tend to compare our life to that of others. In many cases we blame our situation on our gender, our race, the boss, the government or society in general. Very seldom do I ever hear people blame themselves for their life’s circumstances.
I’m not suggesting that you should start blaming yourself for what has happened to your life. Rather, I’m asking you to start right now taking stock of yourself. Your attitude may be sabotaging your success.
Many motivational speakers and others tell us that whatever we become or what happens to us is as a result of what we think about. I’d like to modify that message to say, “We become what we think about most of the time.” It’s our predominant thought that manifests.
Therefore, whether consciously or unconsciously, whatever we think about we become. You create your experience via your underlying beliefs whether they are conscious or unconscious. If you're not conscious of your beliefs then you must make them conscious.
As the famed psychologist, Carl Jung said "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate."
Take a stock of yourself and change your attitude. Stop playing the blame game. Recognize that the power to improve your situation resides within you. Start by developing a positive attitude. Express gratitude and be thankful for the things you have and stop focusing on what you don’t have. The latter serves to engender a negative defeatist attitude.
Smile more. And, whenever someone asks you how you are, stop saying things like: “Not too bad,” “So-so,” “Just surviving.” Instead, say: “I’m in control of my life, I’m wonderful and I’m getting better and better.” Follow this advice and accept the changes that will occur in your life.
